Frankenstein

I am rereading Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. I found a copy at DI for 50 cents. The movies certainly do NOT do it justice. I loved the Preface where the publishers had asked her to write how the story began...and how her husband Percy Shelley (the great poet) had encouraged her to take her dream and make it into something. I am enjoying this immensely.

I love the snow. The rain is well, wet - the snow brushes off. The snow still lets me go to the canyon. The rain makes a muddy mess and I hate to slip around on the trails. ERG.  It is supposed to snow a little in the lower elevations. Randy said it was snowing on Willard Peak today.

The art of letter writing is certainly disappearing. I think it is a terrible loss to society in general and people's lives in particular. My step-sister Katie recently had a birthday. I wrote a letter and included a home-made card and some poetry. In 25 years I have never gotten a thank you card and her birthday cards to me are signed Love Katie. It's nice to be remembered, but it is hard to keep contact between friends and relatives if there is no real communication. My step mom is not a letter writer either. I know folks are busy. Grandma Irene taught me that nothing can replace a hand-written note. I type most of mine now but handwrite short notes...I remember that I would call her, and sometimes she would forget that I called. If she got a letter, she could reread it several times before I wrote again. If too much time lapsed, I would get a small package of stamps in a letter reminding me. I cherish the letters I got from her.

I found out a couple of days ago that I can use the blog site to print out my blogs for a year. As I'm doing this for my journal...for 15.00 I can have a journal with photos and poems all bound to document the year. I think this is a fantastic idea.

There is going to be a charter school here in Perry. I wish there was some way I could be helpful. Although I really need to get a job right now. We are getting into slim pickin' territory time of year and usually my work picks up the slack and keeps us going. I hope Randy can keep the bills paid until I find something.

Still suffering this emotional pain...although it doesn't strike as often, sometimes it drowns me when it does come. Tom Baron said that is normal and it will get better. I am trusting him. I am foolish, I am sad and it still hurts. POOKY.

Piano students came today. Paige Gunther is doing so well. Her legato is so beautiful. Her internal metronome is beginning to kick in. I need to help her with more  interval practice....Practice on the piano so she can 'see' and feel the interval is the best way. Brockston is still trying. I am using Primary Songs and rote songs for him. The books bore him. That's ok. I'll keep trying to stay on top of that....and maybe we can get him to note reading in a year or so.

I received a nice note from Collin via fb. It was great to hear his ideas and how he is. I appreciate so much that he took the time to write.

It seems that lots of folks need prayers and help. For some of them prayers are all I can give.

Sometimes I can help a little more. I get to tend Annie Neslen for a little bit later this morning. I am thrilled...although Marley won't be =O) Randy says he will have to come home from work as he loves her little toes!

Here it is 1:17 a.m. Time to head back to bed. The rain has stopped and my leg is warmed up. The sleepy fairies are doing their job!
