August 5, Friday (oops not the 25th yet!)

This morning is Graydon's surgery in Logan. (And Ryan Tyler's birthday!) I hope Dr. Larson can find what is wrong so that Graydon can get along better.

Julie got to have a 'girls day' with Angie yesterday. Angie drew a beautiful henna design on Julie's arm. Angie is very talented! The glitter and ink were so pretty, I hated for Julie to have to wash that off, even though that is part of the process and then the henna stays on underneath. It looked really nice.

I entered my short story "Eva" in the Peach Day's writing contest. Also two poems, one on Ignorance and the one for Randy, O Beloved.

Here it is 4:49 a.m. I have to get up in 10 minutes to get ready to leave for Logan.

I have been up most of the night. AURGH. The pain beneath my left knee is so terrible that even though I took two sleeping tablets, I only slept a half-hour. POOK. I did do 1 report yesterday. DOUBLE POOK.

I am wondering how I will be able to work if I can't sleep at night. It seems like I am up for several nights and then I sort of 'crash' and sleep really good after a week. I don't know if this is normal for my age - or if it just the tibia aching.

There was a beautiful thunderstorm about 12:30 a.m. The thunder crashed and lightning would flash and outline the mountain shadows of Perry Canyon. It sounded like a tympani concert.  I watched out the kitchen window for about 15 minutes until it finally moved away. We got maybe 10 sprinkles on the step from it.

I have a hen that had a terrible gaping wound on her back. I removed her from the coop and caged her at night and would let her out the next day. I did that for about 2 weeks. Now she keeps flying back in to be with her friends, but they won't leave her alone. Now it is all bloody again. She may have to be put down.

Graydon and Randy and Julie have gotten a lot done on the yard--mowing, and weed-whacking, etc. We even got road base in the drive for all the potholes.

One of Randy's clients didn't get money put in her account so her check to him bounced. When she found out she got  a cashier's check to pay him- Last Randy checked the account nothing of ours had bounced. Another blessing!

I wrote letters to my grandkids yesterday. Just little notes to let them know I love them and miss them. I wish they were closer, but even when they were in Layton, we didn't get to visit very often. School, soccer and dance and Taylor's appointments keep them all busy. I don't know how Kellye does it all. She is an Amazon Mommy.  School starts on Monday for them. It seems crazy that summer will be over soon. But I'm glad for the little we do get to see them. It's fun to see how much they've grown up.

4:59 a.m. Randy is coming to tell me that it is time to get up!

Oh - I need to prepare my lesson for Family History. Oh yeah - I remember--- I slacked last week, so I just need a review. Still lesson 4. Am making some good progress on my own family names. I think I've found 9-10 cousins I didn't know I had.

AURGH. I feel cranky. Guess I had better get going.
