Jacob Sheldon Louderback
I am looking for the whereabouts of my biological Grandfather. I don't have access to Ancestry.com anymore so I have to use what is accessible from the Family History Library. There are some folks working on the Louderback and Lau lines that actually have photos and posts (on Ancestry.com) that I could email but I can't link up from the library - that feature is disabled. I can't afford the cost of a subscription either. $20.00/month or 50.00/3 months.
So...what do I know?
Jacob Sheldon Louderback or sometimes spelled as Lauderback.
He was born 12 July 1901 in Schuyler Country, IL
He was 29 years old in the 1930 census.
He was married to Alta Caroline Lau in 1922.
They had 4 children by 1930 and there is a record of 1 infant son which died in 1926.
In 1931 Alta passed away from TB. Sheldon gave the kids to his mother-in-law. The boys were sent to the St. Charles Reformatory For Boys near Alton, Illinois where they were sexually, physically, and emotionally abused. My father Robert Jay had Tourette's. In case you read an earlier post - my father changed his name to Ronnie Russell because it fit better on the boxing posters. The boys ran away when they were in their teens.
After 1931 there is no sign of Sheldon. He abandoned his children and no one (that I can find) ever heard from him again. Where did he go? I doubt he is alive still.
He was a repairman and worked for a Plow Shop as of the 1930 census. Probably not a lot of work during the Great Depression. YIKES. WHERE IS HE?
That is the puzzle I am working on!
