I have a doctor today who is difficult to understand. I am learning more about the anatomy of the foot and ankle than I ever wanted to know before. I completed 2 reports. Pooky. Will get back at it after Kassidi's lesson.
I read an interesting post by an LDS woman who spoke of the influence that Julie Beck had on her life and all that she learned from listening to Sister Beck speak, she addressed her as a Sister in Christ. I felt like I had missed out! I went to lds.org and printed out all of Sister Beck's talks. I made a title page called "Legacy of Faith" and put Sister Beck's name on it. I am going to read and study everything she said.
I was asked today to play for RS next week. I love it that people think they can count on me. It is an honor! I love Jess Peterson, by the way. She is so amazing: gorgeous, fun, smart - in fact, like many of the young mothers in our ward that I just adore. It is a treat to have her as my friend.
Randy and I took 3 days (over General Conference) and went to Wyoming. We found petrified wood, went four-wheeling a bit, watched some wild mustangs, saw lots of sheep (Marley's favorite part!) and generally got buffeted by the wind. The wind in Wyoming is so strong one can hardly stand up. I think that the world's "wind" is much worse. It is why so many young people are tempted--seemingly beyond their capacity to stand up straight. (I feel sad that so many fall away from the security of the Gospel.) The YW YM theme this year is from D&C 115
Verse 5 Verily I say unto you all: Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations;
This same scripture was the YW YM theme for 2007. It must be important! Maybe I need to work on my light too! More to ruminate over.
While on the trip, Randy gave me a blessing to help me in my new job. I think my faith needed bolstering. I was reminded of the talk by Jeffrey Holland, "Cast not away, therefore thy confidence." I know what I am doing has the Lord's blessing, so therefore, I will succeed. But he didn't say it would be fun all the time....like practicing scales I guess! I will go forward with my mustard see of faith.
I would like to take a couple more piano students, but it gives me pause, as I do not have the resources available that I had before, and I do not have the facilities for recitals. Something ELSE to ruminate over.
I bought a splendid birthday gift for Nola. "Tell My Story, Too." about three different handcart companies and their rescuers. This book was the beginning of the book Remember: The Story of the Martin and Willie Handcart Companies." Many of those from the film "17 Miracles" have their story in this book. The author is from Wyoming and wrote the book because of a calling by her Stake President, to make names and histories for the youth to learn from as they did the trek to Martin's' Cove. It is a beautiful book. I bought one for Randy and I too. Each story needs at least 3 tissues. So filling. It gives me courage to get up! She said every time she thought she had them all she would find another name...and felt that person saying "Please, tell my story, too!" Precious.
Well, I have to quit now. Although the pain is less today, the flashbulbs going off behind my eyes are making me crazy....Sister Smoot will be here any minute for her lesson...she is doing so well!
