June 4

June 4, 2011

Kellye, Collin, and the kids and 2 dogs arrived Monday afternoon. Balto is a husky about 10 years old. He sings---and really liked Dad. Jessie is over a year old and all legs. She and Marley played and played. The kids were pretty good. Grandma and Grandpa are tired.

On Wednesday we went for a hike (it was the warmest day!) up Perry Canyon. We took Jessie and Marley. Kellye and I were in charge. Jessie was pulling me up and down the trail. No control. No training. Eeesh. Anyway – after a bit Kellye told me to let her run…so I undid her and away she went. Heading for Alaska. It took about 20 minutes before she came back. I was wreck thinking she might be gone for good. I hooked her up and she pulled me up and down the canyon trail. AURGH. Kellye told me that Taylor is also blind in his right eye and so he doesn’t see down or to the side of course, and he wanted to run but kept falling down. It didn’t seem to dampen his spirit any!

After the road crossing by the creek (which is FULL by the way!) Jessie fell off the bridge and hates water. Marley was in the water playing around and getting totally soaked and having a great time.

Marley was acting freaked out about something – she was kind of slinking with her tail between her legs and her ears were down. I thought – Gee whiz she only does that when there is a snake. But I couldn’t see a snake!   We had crossed the road and were making the loop back on the north side. Kellye heard it first - A rattlesnake hissing and shaking! Ayden and I had gone right by it and never saw it!!!!!! Kellye had me walk back and she showed me where it was – close to the trail edge – next to a fallen tree limb. I am one crazy twit. It could have been disaster – and why didn’t I pay attention to Marley!???

On Tuesday, Kayla and I walked up to get the mail. Grant and Nola were enjoying their porch so we stopped in to say hello. Kayla was being a little pesty. Anyway she had $2.00 in her pocket that her Aunt Katie had given her. She kept taking it out and showing it off. She took of her jacket and chased Marley- then refused to put it on again. You can guess – that after we got home…she noticed that she had lost the money. She walked back up to Nola’s. Couldn’t find the money. She way crying. I went out and we walked up and down the lane 4 x but couldn’t find it. We searched Nola’s yard. All we found was an empty sparrows egg.   (Later Ayden smashed the shell.)

Finally, I stopped her by Grant’s big bushes where no one could see. We sat down and I said, “Kayla only One Person knows where your money is. We should ask Him to help us!” So we folded our arms, I said a prayer. I said, “Heavenly Father we are SO grateful for the sunshine today! It is beautiful. Also, Kayla has lost her money. We don’t know where it is. Will you help us find it?” Thank you. etc.

On the way back to the house…we found the money still folded up – just in front of the railroad tie that blocks the driveway. Kayla was amazed! (Then we had a thank you prayer.)

Tomorrow is the day I get to speak to the YW about how I joined the church. I think I will have 20 minutes. I will edit some of it out. They don’t need to know all the bad stuff anyway. I am scared and worried about it.

I haven’t begun the Family History course yet. I wanted to get graduation over with. Now I need to buckle down and finish my course. I need a job, insurance, extra money. You know how it is.

The kids have all gone back down to Sandy. We drove them down to Centerville to meet Kellye. We gave her hugs and kissed the kids up. Kellye told me earlier that she wished she had a Dad like Randy. She loves him. I told her that HE loves HER! We think of her as one of our kids. She is an amazing woman. I am so grateful to have her for a daughter-in-law. She is SO kind. I feel lucky to know her. She has had bad times, and yet she keeps going. I want to be like her when I get grown up!

Well - here it is now 11 pm...think I will go practice. I'm feeling anxious (probably because of tomorrow)...I have 2 photos I will share and my original Book of Mormon. I think I will say that even though bringing someone to church is great - the most important is sticking with them and making sure they feel wanted every time they come. And also that we get a little compassion. Sometimes people come from bad things and it takes a long time to change. I will try not to preach=O)
