Only six years old,
she knows what she wants
Moosetracks ice-cream
and it’s definitely not on my list
“Is this in the budget, Mom?”
her green eyes, hopeful
“Not this week, dearie—
maybe another time?”
At the checkout line,
the longed-for ice-cream appears, as if by magic
provided by some listening angel
spoiling the opportune lesson
