Having been sick this past week has been totally horrible. I believe that there is something redeeming in every experience....Brother Kapp told me once that I was like Joseph (like the Amazing Technicolor Joseph) I turned every bad thing into a good thing. What an honor and a good thing to reflect upon. I was thinking about joy. If we are meant to have joy - and that is DOCTRINE----then it means we should have joy Right? Not constant joy - because that would be tiresome wouldn't it? How could we appreciate it if we had it all the time. In the next life, it will be a constant joy and we will still be learning and it will be a GOOD thing. But now for those little joys:
Marley, snuggling--always near me
Randy, putting his scruffy chin in my neck and making me laugh
A clean cool wash cloth after throwing up
Finally being able to NOT have to be in front of the toilet bowl
The first time a piece of toast stays down!
A phone call from a dear friend
Sweet messages from my daughter-in-law Kellye hoping I feel better.
Chicken noodle soup
Finally--after 48 hours a good sleep
Having my friend understand and not fire me even though I was so sick I forgot to call in.....
Watching Adam 12 and Emergency (with no violence, no swearing, nothing I could accidentally see) -- even though I don't really remember any of the episodes....
A glass of water (whoo-hoo!!!!)
More joys!
Eli asking me "Sister Bradbury, do you love me best?"
Admiring Sydney's new dress
Have Jordan talk to me
getting a hug from Nola and a kiss on both cheeks
Taking the Sacrament
Reading the scriptures....I've been making notes.
Now that I can think today....something interesting struck me - a few things
2nd Nephi 31:14
"....have received the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost, and can speak with a new tongue, yea, even with the tongue of angels, ...."
Do I have the tongue of angels? Do you think this is a testimony?
Next:2nd Nephi V 9
"pray always and not faint; that ye must nor perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall Pray until the Father." What am I performing unto the Lord?
Lastly Jacob 4:6 How to obtain hope:
I wrote this on a sticky - I think it is important:
1. Recognizing miracles and tender mercies:
2. Recognize personal revelation.
3. Have gratitude
4. Search the prophets.
We obtain hope and our faith becomes unshaken.
I need that. Don't you?
